Looking forward to our second annual Cancer Survivors Day
Jan 2011, by Dr. Anita Lee and Dr. Pan
As we come upon another year, I want to wish you all a wonderful New Year. I would also like to take this opportunity to share with you our current preparation for our second Cancer Survivors Day. The date for the next Cancer Survivors Day is set for June 12th 2011, a Sunday.
Our first Cancer Survivors Day Conference and Celebration was held on June 13th 2010. Nearly 500 cancer survivors, along with their friends and family members, including staff and volunteers participated in the event. More than 25 educational booths and 8 workshops on topics ranging from diet and nutrition, sexuality for men and women, to new cancer treatments on the horizon were present. Multiple yoga and Reiki sessions were available, as well as an Equinox trainer workout session at the end of event. And what kind of celebration would it be without fun, but healthy food and relaxing jazz music to listen or dance to. All in all, it was a fun, relaxing and educational event for everyone.
More than 90% of the surveys after the event indicated that they were very impressed by the event. Many expressed heartfelt appreciation to the physicians and staff by emails, phone calls, or letters. Many indicated that they would like to continue to join such an event annually and look forward to the next one. Many made helpful comments and provided tips that we can use to make our next event even better. Find out more about our workshop by viewing the Cancer Survivors Day agenda in 2010.
We want to thank you for your enthusiasm, interest, and support for our event and will strive to do an even better job by absorbing your comments and tips. Some had said that they really wanted to go to more workshops but the agenda was created in a way that they were only able to go to only two of the workshops. We hope to be able to design our workshop agenda differently this year.
Again, as another year is upon us, I want to wish you a healthy and Happy New Year, the year of Rabbit. I want to remind you to continue to pay attention to the healthy living tips, spend a good amount of time working out, possibly design a diet and physical activity agenda that will fit your life style and stick to it consistently. Nothing can replace a good amount of physical activities and good nutrition.
