Thoracic surgery
Dr. Richard Bloom and Dr. Alexander Moskovitz are two board-certified thoracic surgeons with interest and expertise in Thoracic Oncology.
Their broad spectrum of experience includes operations for and management of lung cancer, thymic tumors, esophageal cancer, mediastinal masses, and chest wall tumors.
They have developed a special team for minimally-invasive operations to treat lung and other chest malignancies. As part of our Multidiciplinary Tumor Board, they may provide consultations, second opinions, and collaborative input for any patient with tumors in the chest.
The evaluation of a chest tumor often involves many tests. These may include CT scans or PET scans to evaluate the extent of the tumor. Other tests may also be done to determine a patient's fitness for operation.
The Surgery Department of Kaiser Santa Clara is an affiliated institution of the Stanford University School of Medicine and its Surgical Residency Program. Dr. Bloom and Dr. Moskovitz have clinical teaching faculty positions with the Stanford University School of Medicine.
