The multidisciplinary Neuro-Oncology clinic is for adults who have tumors involving their brain or spinal cord. Patients are referred to the clinic by their physicians.
Location and Hours
It is held in the Department of Neurosurgery, Redwood City Medical Center
1150 Veterans Boulevard
Redwood City CA 94063
(650) 299-2290
Expected length of visit is approximately 2 hours.
Purpose
Many of the recent advances in the diagnosis and treatment of brain and spinal tumors require close collaboration between cancer specialists, having differing areas of expertise. The multidisciplinary Neuro-Oncology Clinic at Redwood City brings these specialists together from Redwood City, South San Francisco, and Santa Clara to evaluate each patient's case and then to meet individually with the patient to discuss treatment options. A plan that would normally take weeks to develop is completed in a single day and treatment can begin quickly.
During the Visit
Patients will have the opportunity to meet with professionals from different fields working together to access the patient’s health and progress, provide care, implement any necessary treatment changes and suggest ways to meet any health needs the patient may have.
