There are more than one hundred chemotherapy drugs and biologics that make up nearly two thousand different chemotherapy regimens for cancer therapy.
Different type of cancer is treated with different kind of chemotherapy drugs or regimen. Some times, even for the same type of cancer, different kind of chemotherapy may be given to different patient based on their overall health condition, other medical problems, age, gender, or even ethnicity. For example, a drug called erlotinib is particularly effective in Asian women with lung cancer, especially if they have never smoked.
