Preserved foods

Preserved food is clearly associated with cancer of esophagus, stomach and nasopharynx. In Asia, consumption of preserved fish, meat and vegetables is high and the rate of cancer of digestive organs is also high.

In Hong Kong and other Southeast coastal countries and cities, consuming salted fish is common and this dietary style has been associated with increased risk of cancer of nasopharynx.

Preserved meat has also been linked to increased risk of cancer. Limiting consumption of preserved meat is also advised.
