Breast cancer follow-up
Adapted from NCCN (National Comprehensive Cancer Network) V.2.2010
- Interval history and physical exam:
- every 4-6 months for 5 years
- then every 12 months
- Mammogram every12 months
- Women on tamoxifen:
- annual pelvic exam every 12 months if uterus is present
- Women on an aromatase inhibitor or who experience ovarian failure secondary to treatment:
- Baseline bone density test to monitory bone health
- Periodic bone density assessment (every 12-24 months)
- Assess and encourages adherence to adjuvant endocrine therapy
